Porcelain Veneers Cairns
If you suffer from stained or dull teeth, misshapen, chipped or worn teeth, our dental veneers may be right for you.
Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells custom-designed to be fitted to the front surface of your teeth. They are an effective treatment option for those who want to create a shapely, straight and beautifully white smile.
Any existing cracks, discolouration or gaps can be hidden simply by covering them up. This treatment is used to reinforce the tooth structure and enhance their aesthetic appeal, giving you a smile makeover.
Types of veneers
There are various options available. These include porcelain veneers, composite resin veneers and ceramic veneers. Porcelain veneers are generally the most commonly used owing to their aesthetic appeal and strength, while composite veneers can be used as a cost effective solution.
Treatment process
During your first appointment, we will consult with you about the goals you have for your smile, as well as the cost of the procedure. We may also choose to take an impression of your teeth and perform 3D scans.
Once you have decided to go ahead and your prosthetics have been produced, we need to minimally polish the tooth enamel and prepare the tooth surface. This is so your new smile does not look too bulky and fits perfectly when applied.
After this, a special bonding agent and blue light will be used to bond your veneers to your teeth. This will ensure they last for as long as possible, which in most cases should be at least 10 years if the proper care is taken.
Benefits of porcelain veneers
- They can be used to create a straight-looking smile and correct front teeth that are too short or too long
- A healthy, natural look is achieved with little to no discomfort
- They are strong, durable and natural in colour
- Long-lasting with proper maintenance
- Resistant to staining

Most veneers can now be constructed in a day or two using our E4D Technology, with results equalling what we had to wait weeks to deliver previously.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do veneers last?
orcelain veneers are dental restorations which can last for a long time if one maintains good oral hygiene. In most cases, veneers should last at least 10 years with our own veneers usually being seen to last 25 years if the proper care is taken, though one or two may eventually need replacing.
At Future Dental, we have seen cases of veneers still going strong even after up to 42 years, as this is when the technology was invented, and we have done them since 1982 with Dr Gibbins having placed over 17,000 Veneers.
How many veneers do you need?
The amount of veneers a person needs is subjective, based on you looking in the mirror and seeing how many teeth form your smile.
In most cases, you will require 8 to 10 veneers to be placed. The final amount will be determined when your dental professional takes an impression of your teeth in the consultation phase.
Do they all have to be done at once?
In the big majority of cases, yes. It is better to have all necessary veneers completed in the same course of treatment to ensure the best results.
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
Typically, if a patient is only receiving 1 to 4 veneers, the cost is comparable to all-ceramic porcelain crowns. When 6 or more are placed, however, the fees per tooth are about 10% lower
At Future Dental, we offer payment plans through Smile Right. They aim to assist people in paying for dental and medical expenses, spreading the cost over time. We also offer industry-leading warranty on all of our dental work. This includes a 5 year pro rata warranty that expires after 5 years.
Terms and conditions apply, please contact Future Dental for further information.
Can I still undergo teeth whitening?
Whilst the treatment is still possible, the stain resistant nature of veneers means they are much harder to change the colour of than normal teeth. Therefore, it is recommended that you have the shade of white you want in your veneer and surrounding teeth before installation.

How do you know that you’ll love your new smile?
Some just trust our expertise in getting the best possible results, while others choose to see a 3D model and simulation of their individual appearance. This is done initially by our dental professionals formulating either a wax-up on models of your teeth using the shape you will experience, or you can have a template made from the wax-up into a set of temporary veneers to use as a trial.
These can be temporarily fitted to your teeth, giving you the chance to visualise the finished product and make any changes you would like before we install the permanent version on your teeth.
At Future Dental, we are using a digital smile design process now which you can see and even converting that to a 3D printed orthotic that duplicates the appearance of your new smile. This is simply clipped onto your teeth in the form of snap on veneers, so you can wear it away for a few weeks to decide if you want any changes.
Do these wax-ups, trial veneers, digital smile simulation and printed clip-ons cost extra?
These extras do result in extra cost, yes. This is a result of the amount of time, effort, artistry, and design that goes into creating them. In some cases, these simulations can be done without having to drill away at teeth, however the result is never as good cosmetically. We extremely rarely do veneers without doing some small amount of tooth reduction.
Can you go back to normal teeth after veneers?
The placement of veneers involves a process where a thin layer of enamel is removed from the front surface of the teeth to accommodate the veneer material. This removal of enamel is typically minimal, but it’s indeed irreversible. Once this natural tooth structure is removed, you cannot regain or restore it. In the 40 years we have placed porcelain veneers, we have never been asked to remove a set of veneers.
What is the best age to get porcelain veneers?
The best age for porcelain veneers is any age after the teeth are fully developed, usually in the late teens to early twenties, and when a person’s oral health is good. However, the decision should be based on individual goals and should be made after consulting with a dentist.
Do porcelain veneers crack easily?
Porcelain veneers are quite resilient and can withstand the pressures of daily life without easily cracking. They are designed to be durable and provide long-lasting cosmetic enhancement to your smile. By taking good care of your veneers, practising proper oral hygiene, and avoiding habits like teeth grinding or using your teeth as tools, you can enjoy the benefits of veneers with minimal risk of cracking. Remember that your dentist is there to guide you on how to best care for your veneers and ensure they remain beautiful for years to come. We usually advise a custom night guard to stop the damage from grinding teeth during sleep.
